When do we need your Install.log file?

You may be asked to share the install.log file when you are having issues installing or updating RealVNC Connect. This allows the RealVNC Support Team to have more information around why the installation is failing, which allows us to spot any issues reported within the log or give us enough information to attempt to recreate the issue so we can help you find a solution.

Where do I find the Install.log file?

To locate your Install.log file, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open your terminal
  2. Run the following command
    sudo cp /var/log/install.log ~/Desktop/install.log
Note: If you are not running this with root, you may be asked to enter a password
  3. Once the command has ran, the Install.log file will be copied onto your desktop.
  4. Share these logs with the RealVNC Support Team.
