Smoothly constraining the mouse pointer within the RealVNC window?
Please take note of the following article:
https://help.realvnc.com/hc/en-us/articles/9381407581725-Why-is-my-cursor-stuck-in-the-RealVNC-Viewer-window
My system is a Raspberry Pi running Raspberry Pi O/S Buster with RealVNC connect installed on my Windows 10 laptop.
Issue:
There does not seem to be a way of smoothly constraining and then releasing the mouse's pointer from within the RealVNC window.
Note that the referenced article mentions that by pressing F8 within the window and selecting "relative pointer motion" I can lock the pointer to within the RealVNC window and by repeating the process, I can release it.
Unfortunately, this is somewhat clumsy and unworkable when trying to get work done on the device as I must stop, press F8, make a menu choice and then repeat that process when I want to do something else.
A more desirable and fluid way to do this would be similar to the way VMware implements constraint within the VMware client window:
* When the mouse's pointer moves within the client window, the client window "captures" the pointer and it is not allowed to leave.
* If the user wants to move the pointer outside the client window, he presses a "magic key" - (alt?) - while moving the pointer and it is allowed to leave the client window.
The current way that RealVNC implements this is much less fluid and forces the user to stop what he is doing to perform several operations to move back-and-forth between constrained motion and unconstrained motion.
Questions:
1. Is this more fluid method, using auto-capture and a magic key to release the pointer available?
2. If not, can it be considered as a feature improvement in an upcoming version?
Thanks!
Jim
