I get this error when try to connect to my Ubuntu server. It worked good, but 2-3 days ago I got this error. And now I can not connect still. I got infinite attemtps of reconnect.
In RealVNC Viewer, before attempting to connect - right-click on the server that is giving you this error, click Properties... --> Options tab --> Change Picture quality to Medium --> Click the OK button at the bottom. Now try to connect. If it works you can disconnect, change the Picture quality back to Automatic, and then connect again.
