Trial teams require a minimum app version

Follow

Summary

If your team is on a trial, you can only sign in and license RealVNC Connect on recent app versions. Older versions will not let a trial account sign in or apply a license. Paid subscriptions are not affected.

Minimum versions for trial accounts

App Minimum version
RealVNC Connect 8.5.0
RealVNC Viewer 8.5.0
RealVNC Server 7.16

This applies to every device you want to sign in on or license during your trial.

What happens on an older version

If you try to sign in to RealVNC Viewer or the combined app below 8.5.0, sign-in is blocked and the app asks you to update. If you try to license RealVNC Server below 7.16 with a trial account, licensing fails and the device can't accept connections. Your trial itself is unaffected, and you can carry on as soon as you update.

How to fix it

  1. Check which version you have. In the app, open the menu and select About.
  2. If it's below the minimum, download the latest version from the RealVNC download page.
  3. Install it over your existing version. Your settings and address book are kept.
  4. Sign in again, or re-apply your license if you're using the server-only app.

Repeat for each device that's on an older version.
