RealVNC Connect includes a server status indicator on the homepage that shows whether your device is ready to accept incoming connections. The indicator helps you identify and resolve issues that could prevent others from connecting to your device, before they attempt to connect.
The server status indicator is available from RealVNC Connect v8.5.2.
What does the server status indicator show?
The server status indicator appears below "Remotely access this device" on the homepage. It displays one of three statuses:
- Ready for connections (green): Your device is ready to accept incoming connections. No action is needed.
- Issues to review (yellow): There are issues that may affect incoming connections in the future. These are recommended fixes, but connections are not currently blocked.
-
Resolve connection issues (red): Incoming connections to your device are currently blocked. Action is required to restore connectivity.
Viewing and resolving connection issues
If the indicator shows yellow or red, click on it to open the Connection issues page. This page lists all detected issues and categorises them as:
- Required: Issues that are currently blocking incoming connections and need to be resolved.
- Recommended: Issues that may block connections in the future and should be reviewed.
Each issue shows a title and a brief description explaining what is happening and how it affects your device.
Resolving an issue
Where possible, issues include a Resolve button. Depending on the issue, this will either fix the problem automatically or take you to the relevant setting where you can make the change yourself.
Each issue also includes a Learn more link that opens a Knowledge Base article with further information and guidance.
Error reference
Each issue displays an error reference (e.g. "Error: Net-FirewallBlocked") beneath the description. If you need to contact support, this reference helps our team identify the issue quickly.
Still having trouble?
If the connection issues page does not resolve your problem, or you need further assistance, click Contact support at the bottom of the Connection issues page, or submit a support request here.
