Updating your On-Prem Management Console to a new version

Follow

This article covers updating an existing On-Premises Management Console installation on Windows to a newer version. If you're on version 2.2.1 or later, follow the steps below. If you're on an older version, follow On-Prem Management Console 2.2.X and On-Prem Zone 1.1.X Update Instructions instead, as this uses an uninstall-and-reinstall process rather than the in-place update covered here.

Before you begin

Your Management Console must be on version 2.2.1 or later to use this update process.

Note: Some device and network setups require the installer to read a registry file, which needs administrator rights. We recommend you always run the installer as an administrator to avoid installation issues, as we cannot account for every environment.

Update your Management Console

  1. Sign in to the RealVNC Connect Portal and download the latest version of the Management Console installer.
  2. Run the installer. Right-click the installer file and select Run as administrator so it can read the registry file successfully.
  3. The installer shows your current version and the version you're updating to. Click Start to begin the update, or Cancel to exit without making changes.

  4. On the Will you be using Web Viewer? screen, decide whether to install Coturn.:

Web Viewer is our browser-based Viewer that lets you make connections from within your web browser, and it requires Coturn (ICE server) to work. The Install Coturn (ICE server) checkbox is selected by default - leave it selected if you plan to use Web Viewer, or deselect it if you don't.

If you deselect it, the installation continues as normal and your use of the Management Console isn't affected - you just won't be able to use Web Viewer functionality.

Click Continue to proceed. If Coturn is already installed on your device, you won't see this screen - the installer skips straight to the next step.

  5. The update process will commence, This process may take several minutes to complete - you don't need to do anything on this screen.

  6. Once the upgrade finishes, the Management Console automatically launches in your device's default web browser. This may take a moment.

If it doesn't launch automatically, copy the URL shown on screen (click Copy URL to clipboard) and paste it into your browser instead.

  7. Log in to the console using your existing credentials. You don't need to create a new account or reset your password to complete the update.
