If you suspect that someone has gained unauthorized access to your RealVNC account, follow these steps:
- Go to the RealVNC account sign in page and reset your password. An email will be sent to your registered email address with a link to reset your password.
- When choosing a new password, make sure that it is unique among all the passwords you use online, so that a data breach by another service does not compromise remote access. Always select complex, long passwords that cannot be easily guessed – the safest method is to use password manager software to generate and store the password for you, so you don't need to remember it.
- After you reset your password, enable 2-step verification on the Security page. From now on, signing in to your account will require your account email address, account password, and a unique code generated by an app on your mobile device.
- If you have a Home subscription, make sure that your RealVNC account password is not the same as your computer’s VNC Server password.
- If both your RealVNC account and VNC Server credentials have been compromised, you can examine VNC Server logs for more information about connection activity (for example, to identify suspicious IP addresses).
