What can I do to boost picture quality or performance?

Improving picture quality and performance is typically a trade-off, since reducing picture quality is likely to boost performance, and vice versa.

Patented algorithms automatically adapt picture quality to network speed, so you may already have the optimal setting. If you wish, you can tweak the Picture quality dropdown in the RealVNC Viewer Properties dialog for a particular connection:

There’s a similar setting available from the RealVNC Viewer toolbar available in-session while connected to a remote device from your tablet or phone.

Advanced users can try manually adjusting the Quality, ColorLevel and PreferredEncoding parameters in the Expert section of RealVNC Viewer's Preference or a connection's Properties (as shown above).
