Following the release of On-Prem Management Console 2.2.0 and the On-Prem Zone 1.1.0, we recommend that all customers on any of the previous versions of the On-Prem Management Console or On-Prem Zone update to the 2.2.0 and 1.1.0 versions respectively.
You can download the latest versions from the RealVNC Connect Portal.
To update your existing On-Prem Management Console and On-Prem Zone to the new versions please follow the below instructions.
On-Prem Management Console
Before beginning ensure you have the PostgreSQL admin credentials you set during the original installation as you will need these in order to connect the retained PostgreSQL database to the updated On-Prem Management Console.
Step 1 - Uninstall your existing On-Prem Management Console
To begin you will need to uninstall your existing On-Prem Management Console, to do this you can either run the On-Prem Management Console installer - this will commence the uninstall flow - or you can uninstall via Control Panel/Settings -> Add/Remove Programs.
During the uninstall, the On-Prem Management Console program will be uninstalled but the PostgreSQL database will be retained.
Step 2 - Install the latest version of the On-Prem Management Console
Launch the installer for the latest version of the On-Prem Management Console. Instructions for the installation can be found here.
You will need to use the same SSL certificates and Postgres admin credentials in this install process in order to connect the database to the new On-Prem Management Console.
On-Prem Zone
IMPORTANT: if you are updating your On-Prem Zone you must ensure you have updated your On-Prem Management Console to version 2.2.0 before you start the process of updating the On-Prem Zone.
If you do not update your On-Prem Management Console first, you will lose access to the devices linked to the Zone and be required to re-join them to the On-Prem Zone.
Step 1 - Deregister the Zone in the linked On-Prem Management Console
- Log into the On-Prem Management Console linked to the On-Prem Zone.
- Navigate to the Zones tab.
- Locate the Zone you will be updating and select the in row ... button.
- Select the Deregister Zone action, this will deregister the Zone and make the Zone Access Key accessible again.
Step 2 - Uninstall the existing On-Prem Zone
To uninstall the On-Prem Zone you can either run the On-Prem Zone installer - this will commence the uninstall flow - or you can uninstall via Control Panel/Settings -> Add/Remove Programs.
Step 3 - Install the latest version of the On-Prem Zone
Launch the installer for the latest version of the On-Prem Zone. Instructions for the installation can be found here.
You will need to use the same SSL certificates in this install process in order to connect the database to the updated On-Prem Management Console.
