If your subscription includes the Annotations feature, you can draw directly on the screen during remote sessions to visually highlight key areas, making collaboration clearer and support more efficient.

Annotations requires RealVNC Connect v8.2.0 on the local and remote device.

Enabling the Annotations feature

To start using the Annotations feature within a remote session, click the pen icon on the toolbar at the top of the session window:

 

Creating Annotations

Select a colour using the colour selection on the left side of the Annotations toolbar.

Select a pen thickness using the options for thick or thin pen.

Draw on the screen using your mouse pointer.

Clearing Annotations

Enabling ‘Auto clear annotations’ in the annotations toolbar will remove the annotations after a short amount of time.

To remove all annotations on the screen, click 'CLEAR ALL'. 

Troubleshooting Annotations

If annotations do not work, check the following:

  1. Check that your subscription includes Annotations.
  2. Has RealVNC Connect been configured to disable annotations? If you have access, check global permissions on the RealVNC Connect Inbound Connection Settings> Advanced page.
