Automatically applying your cloud connectivity token to cloud license RealVNC Server in the Windows MSI Installer

Follow

One option for licensing devices is to add the JOINCLOUD property to the MSI installer.  This will automatically join the device to the RealVNC Cloud and register it under your RealVNC Connect Team.

Obtaining and installing Microsoft Orca

You will need to edit the MSI file using the Microsoft tool Orca.  You can download it as part of the Microsoft SDK. To obtain the Orca MSI installer, download the ISO from Microsoft here.

Once downloaded, right click on the ISO file and choose Mount.

Mounting the ISO file will allow you to browse in File Explorer to the Installers folder inside the mounted ISO file.

Find the Orca-x86_en-us.msi file.

Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Modifying the RealVNC Server MSI

Once its installed you will see the option to Edit with Orca in the Windows Explorer right click context menu.  Go to the downloaded MSI, right click and choose Edit with Orca.

When Orca is opened, click Tools on the top menu, then click Options.

Next, scroll down on the left side and select Property.

Right click and choose to Add Row.  Enter JOINCLOUD as the Property, and your cloud connectivity token as the Value.

The cloud connectivity token is found in the RealVNC Connect Portal under Devices > Deployment page as shown.

Once you have added all of the rows/settings click File, Save As, to generate an MSI that will include automatically cloud license RealVNC Server upon install.
