What is Advanced Filtering?
Advanced Filtering gives you more ways to search, sort, and filter through your Devices List so you can find the devices you're looking for much more easily and quickly.
Advanced Filtering in the RealVNC Connect Portal
Advanced Filtering is available on the Devices -> Computers page within the RealVNC Connect Portal, and appears above your list of devices.
Navigating the device list
At the top and bottom of your device list you can find page controls where you can choose how many items are displayed on each page, and controls to move forward/backward by 1 page or to the first and last pages.
Adding a filter
You can add a filter by device name, status (Presence), operating system and app version by clicking or typing in the relevant filter box.
Clearing a filter
To clear a filter, click the cross to the right of the filter you wish to remove.
Device
The Device filter allows you to filter your list of devices by the name of the device. The Device filter is a text filter and will perform a "contains" filter on the device name field.
Status (Presence)
The Status filter allows you to filter your list of devices by their Presence status, i.e. whether they are detected as Online or Offline.
Operating System
The Operating System filter allows you to filter your list of devices by the operating system that RealVNC Server is running on. The filter is a text filter and will perform "contains" filter on the detected operating system name, e.g. Microsoft Windows, macOS, Ubuntu.
App Version
The App Version filter allows you to filter your list of devices by the version of RealVNC Server that is installed on the device. The filter is a text filter and will perform "contains" filter on the detected operating system name, e.g. 8.0.0, 7.13.1
Note, the app version column will show the version in appname/appversion format, for example rvncserver/8.0.0. The app name is an internal reference and can be ignored.
Sorting
Your device list can be sorted by clicking the name of the column you wish to sort by. Click the column name again to switch between ascending and descending sort order. Clicking a third time will reset the sort to default, which is Device Name in ascending order.

Advanced Filtering is available in the Devices section of the RealVNC Connect app.
Adding a filter
To add a filter, click the + button at the top left and then click on the filter you want to apply:

Clearing a filter
To clear a filter, click the + button and then click on the filter you want to remove. The blue checkmark is hidden once a filter is removed:

The Name filter allows you to filter your list of devices by the name of the device. The Name filter is a text filter and will perform a "contains" filter on the device name field.

The App Version filter allows you to filter your list of devices by the version of RealVNC Connect/Server that is installed on the device. The filter is populated using the detected application versions running on your devices, e.g. rvncserver/8.0.0. Multiple options can be selected.

Your device list can be sorted by clicking the up/down arrow icon to the right of the column you wish to sort by. Click the up/down arrow icon again to switch between ascending and descending sort order.
