If the chat feature is included in your subscription, you can chat via RealVNC Connect to a user on a device you are connected to.
Starting a chat
Chats are started by the user making the connection to a remote device. Once connected to a remote device, navigate to the toolbar which is at the top of the RealVNC Connect window by default and click on the Chat button.
View the Chat dialog at the top middle of your screen.
Note that Chat appears in the same place even if you initiate it from an unpinned toolbar.
As a user connecting to a remote device, you will see 2 chat windows: yours, and the one on the remote device.
Clicking the Chat button on your device opens the Chat in a separate window on the remote device. The history of messages is visible only on the remote device’s chat.
Sending a message in chat
Enter a message and click the [>] Send button or press the ENTER key. Both you and the user on remote device will see your message.
You are identified by the username with which you authenticated to RealVNC Connect.
Once the user on the remote device sends a message, it will be visible to all participants.
The user on a remote device is identified by the text (Local) appended to the username.
Ending a chat
To close Chat on your device click on any part of the screen. Note that the chat window on the remote device will remain open.
