Licensing question

I am just a developer me myself and I private and open source. I see Enterprise has ability to have a offline license. I work in the same way enterprise would offline batch loading machines to test scripts for project deployments. RealVNC is an asset of value I understand the new pay system.

However I dont understand why I can only see a monthly subscription cost forcing online use. I dont understand why I cant have a one time or version license for my own free private use.

Is there a method or way to have a license file to apply to server when used in such a way?

  • Hi Kelly,

We don't require online use with VNC Connect Enterprise subscriptions - you can use this entirely "offline" and apply the license using a license key (available in the VNC Connect portal) which is valid for 1 year.

You could use our new RPort software (the core of which is Open Source) to automate the installation, licensing and uninstall your VNC Connect Enterprise servers. For more information on this, see https://rport.io.

    Hope this helps.

  • A little but I do feel like the question skirted the issue a little.

Can I get or pay for a license like enterprise license or is there easy to access pricing structure for a single open source private "me" you say enterprise and I figure thousands of dollars vs a realistic venture for most in my position.

I am buying and using raspberry pi to facilitate this today, the Pi price is getting out of hand and there is  unknown futures in the pi5 and relations with partners for us common folk ;)

  • You can, of course, buy an Enterprise subscription for a single server. Pricing is available per device and a single device subscription can be purchased (which we believe is very affordable) - please see https://www.realvnc.com/en/connect/pricing/device-access/

For our free non-commercial raspberry pi license, see https://help.realvnc.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002249917-VNC-Connect-and-Raspberry-Pi

    Hope this helps.

  • Thank you Andrew that that is helpful! it's a little spicy-pricy but I understand the value you have.

I have one more question if I might.. can I easily decommission licenses? if a system is used for a week and reset/formatted to a new/different image I can quickly redeploy the key at OS install/provisioning   and move off-line again?
