Configure VNC Server on Linux Mint 21

Hello,

I downloaded and executed the install for Linux.
I select Server install, At the Server Licensing part I enter the account info (home user) and at the end I entered my sudo password.
I keep on getting the following error: "Administrator privileges are required for this operation"
What am doing wrong?

    Hi Meir,

Thanks for posting. Linux Mint isn't officially supported by VNC Connect so some issues are to be expected. In this case, it sounds like your system is missing a terminal application VNC Server requires to carry out certain operations via sudo/su .

To resolve this, please can you run this command and then try licensing VNC Server again?

    sudo apt install xterm

    Thanks,

    Jack

  • Hi,

Had the same issue on my Debian 11.5 installation and Jack's solution fixed it.

    Thanks,

    Richard

  • Same as Richard. Installing Xterm fixed this problem. A command window opened but its output was not passed to the server installer.
