There is a bug in the feature "Blank screen while users are connected" that incorrectly shows whole desktop

Hi Team,

I think there is a bug in the feature "Blank screen while users are connected" that VNC server incorrectly shows whole desktop. This happens to VNC server running Windows 11 when I use VNC viewer remotely connect to it from Linux. If I have a running desktop app, e.g., Google Chrome, when I hover my mouse over the app icon in the taskbar on Windows 11, I observe that the feature fails to hide the desktop contents, but incorrectly shows the whole desktop content.

Could anyone take a look please?

Thanks,

Ruoshui

    Hi,

Thanks for your post! This is listed as a known issue on our screen blanking KB here: https://help.realvnc.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016511452#how-long-does-screen-blanking-last--0-2

If you don't want to use the application window preview feature in Windows, you can disable it in the Registry by setting DisablePreviewWindow in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and then restarting explorer.exe.

Note: editing the Registry incorrectly can cause issues with your computer so please use caution when making changes.

    Kind regards,
