VNC Server on Win10P Laptop Lid Closed set to do nothing not responding from VNC viewer

Had thought a fluke on 1st Laptop, but after fresh Win10Pro install on 2nd laptop - doing the same, there is a problem.

From my 2015 mac book running mac ver 12.6 w/ VNC viewer works perfectly on all BUT closed lid laptops with do nothing setting.  VNC session opens the closed lid laptop, BUT if I click open notepad, the notepad will not show opening, UNLESS I close & reopen the VNC session - there it shows open, to accomplish objectives, mouse clicks = session reopens = painful - what is the resolve??   BTW I'm running an old ver 5.0.3 - don't tell me to upgrade :)
