VNC Viewer login not possible from lock screen

I try to remote login from the lock screen and I can input the password, but "return" or klick onto the right circled arrow does nothing. A return just selects the password dots and that's it. Any help appreciated.

macOS Version is Monterey.

  • I am having the same problem. I got a new M1 Mac min and used Migration Assistant to move everything over. My Mac mini is running Monterey Version 12.5.1. Once the Mac mini is booted and I log in I can use VNC like normal and everything works as expected.

From a boot or waking my Mac mini up after sleep, I see the lock screen on the Mac mini when sitting infant of it. When I try to connect to it via VNC I get the message "connection refused by host" in VNC Viewer before I ever get to see the screen or enter the passcode to get to the desktop.

I uninstalled VNC and reinstalled it. I checked my security permissions on Monterey too but I must have missed something or there is a new permission with Monterey that won't let me connect when it is still on the Lock Screen.

    Any ideas would be welcome.

    thank you!
