forgot password for vnc server on raspberry pi

It's been awhile since I've used vnc and I can't remember the server password.  The online instructions for password recovery seem to be for some computer other than raspberry pi.  Can someone tell me where to find instructions for accessing the vnc server password recovery for a raspberry pi4?

  • Hi Ken,

Assuming VNC Server on your Raspberry Pi is setup for system authentication, in general the default username is pi and the default password is raspberry.

If you've changed the password for the default pi user, you'll need to reset it. This is detailed here:

    Hope that helps

  • The program launches as you describe.  However, when I get to the point of entering a new password, no characters display when I input the new password or enter the confirmation password.  After entering the confirmation password, I get these messages:

    Authentication token manipulation error

    Password unchanged
