Cannot connect to computer next to me

I have 2 Win10 computers in my home and I want to connect from computer A to computer B.

Computer B is running the VNC Server, however I would have thought that port 5900 would be opened on this computer however it is not. I tried rebooting and nothing changes. I checked the server logs and can see the following:

VNC(R) Server 6.7.4 (r43891) x64 (Jan 20 2021 13:41:06)

Telnet from computer A on port 5900 obviously fails.

When I try to connect using VNC Viewer I get the error "Timed out waiting for a response from the computer".

    Hi Julian,

Port 5900 is used for direct connections which require an Enterprise subscription. Other subscription types (Home and Professional) do not have a listening port and must be connected to via the cloud.

To make a cloud connection, sign in to VNC Viewer with the same RealVNC account you used to sign in to VNC Server and click on your Team from the left menu. You'll see your computer automatically listed - double click it to connect.

  • It does not work to me - "Timed out waiting for a response from the computer" - the Window 10 computer and the pi are sitting next to each other, and my subscription is Enterprise.

On other hand, in Window 10 computer which installed with VNC Viewer, I cannot sign in - "failed to sign in to account due to a network error".
