My VNC connection with a specific user is no longer working.
I updated the RealVNC Server version from 7.13.1 to 7.18 because version 7.13.1 wouldn't let me open the main window or the options (it would restart/close). Now, I don't know if it's because of this or an update to the RVNC Viewer app for iOS, but I can't connect to my Mac (I get the error: "Either VNC Server is not running, or it is using an incompatible protocol version").
The only options I have enabled in Remote Management under Settings > Sharing on macOS 26.6 are "Everyone can ask permission to control the screen" and then "Allow access to all users."
I tried checking "VNC viewers can control the screen with a password" and set the password, and now it lets me connect, but it takes me to the user selection screen, and if I select a different user than the one currently logged in on the computer screen, the user on the screen changes. However, before, with this last option... With the option unchecked, I was connecting with a specific user and it wasn't affecting the local user.
The RealVNC Server Expert options I selected at its moment to get it working this way (I think that's what it was for) were:
AllowIpListenRfb = False
Authentication = VncAuth
EnableAnalytics = True
EnableAutoUpdateChecks = 1

Thanks for providing all of those details.
RealVNC Server 7.18 is supported on macOS Tahoe 26, so the version itself should be suitable for your Mac.
One thing we noticed from your description is that macOS Remote Management is also enabled. For best results when using RealVNC Server, we recommend disabling the Mac’s built-in Remote Management/Screen Sharing service before starting RealVNC Server, as both services can otherwise interfere with each other.
Could you please try disabling Remote Management in macOS Settings, restart RealVNC Server, and then test the connection again?

Authentication=VncAuthsetting uses a VNC-specific password rather than the credentials of a particular macOS user. If your goal is to authenticate using individual Mac user accounts, this would normally be configured using system authentication and the appropriate user permissions in RealVNC Server.If the issue continues after disabling macOS Remote Management, please let us know.
