New VNC client connection gets put in background

Using RealVNC Viewer 7.15.1 on Debian Trixie (13) with Gnome new client connections are automatically sent to the background instead of forground after successfull connect.  This is a change from previous versions.  Is is possible to change this behavior?

    Hi Geek Thomas,

    Thanks for raising this.

I understand that after connecting with RealVNC Viewer 7.15.1 on Debian Trixie with GNOME, the new connection window is being sent to the background instead of opening in the foreground.

This may be related to how the desktop environment or window manager handles focus for newly opened windows. Please note that Debian Trixie is not currently listed as a supported platform for RealVNC Connect.

You can review our supported platforms here:

  • After testing, I've experienced the same issue with the same version on Windows 11. Something changed from previous versions to cause this

  • Hi Geek Thomas,

Thank you for testing this further and confirming that the same issue also happens on Windows 11.

Since this may need further investigation, please raise a support ticket with the affected RealVNC Viewer version, the operating systems tested, and the steps to reproduce the issue.

This will allow our Support team to review the details properly and investigate further.

    Kind regards,
