iPadOS physical mouse support

Does anyone know of a way to get VNC Viewer on iPadOS to simply use a real mouse? While I'm able to use the mouse to operate the touch controls, it would be nice to take advantage of the hardware that is there. If this feature doesn't exist, can someone from RealVNC suggest when such a feature might be added?

Thanks

Support for mouse / trackpad input is on our product roadmap.

Unfortunately we're not able to give an estimated release date at this time.

  • Any date on this yet?  With magic keyboard for iPad, trackpad is excellent. This would be a big enhancement, and I don’t want to have to switch to another VNC viewer for it.  Thanks

  • You may want to try setting the connection interaction to be Touch panel (select Interaction > Touch panel from a connection’s settings, either before or during a session)

  • @andrew, that seems to partly work. It works for moving the cursor but all it seems that the other interactions are not available. Any other thoughts or new development on supporting the iPad keyboard/trackpad?

  • FYI, the RD Client on iPadOS supports mouse very well, just like a native one.

cann't wait to see it's implemented in realvnc

  • Dear RealVNC-Team,

I‘d love to see this feature being implemented. Working from remote with am mouse attached to my iPad would greatly be enhanced when you could move he the mouse pointer on the remote PC.

Are there any news when we could see this?

    Thanks,

    Michael

  • Dear RealVNC-Team,

Has this feature progressed any further in the development cycle?  I use RealVNC for iPadOS for hours at a time every week.  It would be really nice, like the Microsoft Remote Desktop app does, to use the iPad trackpad to control the RealVNC desktops I have setup.

    Thank you,

    Jarom

  • This feature would easily move RealVNC into my daily use habits. Currently the majority of programs I use require decent mouse functionality that the touch screen option is not suited for.

  • Hi ! I have a different question, let me explain.... I have just purchased a bluetooth mouse for my ipad.

On the other hand I had already installed the vnc viewer on the ipad to connect my PC at home. I thought It was easier to work with a mouse in my ipad to have access to my PC, but the problem is the mouse pointer from my ipad ( whish is not an arrow but a circle) doesn't coincide with the mouse pointer in the PC , which is the device that I am trying to control from my ipad. So right no I have two mouse pointer at my ipad screen . Therefore my new mouse for the ipad is useless as I don't have any control on my remote PC.

When I connect two PCs through real VNC you can control everything from the remote PC with the mouse connected to the local PC with viewer  ( which usually is my laptop), but with my ipad I can't do that, my mouse connected to ipad doesn't work over remote PC`s connected to VNC. Is there any way to fix this and use my ipad mouse to control my remote PC using real VNC. Thank you for your help

  • I have tried using the Bluetooth mouse on my iPad and it works great once you change the interaction option to touch pane. For me, it doesn’t seem to have the calibration issue described above by another user.

My problem is that if I right click on my Bluetooth physical mouth, it doesn’t work on the VNC app. It just left clicks no matter what button I press. Is there any way to solve this?
