VNC Connect v8.0 with basic VNC password authentication?

Hi there,

Under prior version of VNC Connect, I could connect to “plain old” VNC servers set up with or without a basic VNC password.

I now get this error message:

And the log says:

<15> CConnection: reading protocol version
<14> CConnection: Server supports RFB protocol version 3.8
<14> CConnection: Using RFB protocol version 3.8
<15> RfbConnection: Peer does not support sync, KeepAlive disabled
<15> CProtoV4Down: processing security types message
<15> CProtoV4Down: processing security types message
<15> CProtoV4Down: Server offers security type VncAuth(2)
<13> CConnection: close: [NoMatchingSecTypes] No matching security types

How do I get RealVNC Connect to accept VncAuth(2)? These machines are only available locally or via Tailscale, not exposed to the Internet, and cannot support anything more than basic VNC connections.

Any help gratefully accepted, I’m on an Essentials plan.

Thanks,

Sean

    Hi,

RealVNC Connect v8 does not currently support connections to non-RealVNC VNC Servers.
