Clipboard synchronization in recent releases

Hi,

some feedback that the clipboard sync with Connect got really bad since I believe 7.12.

Most reproducible scenario:

I establish the connection to my Linux server.

I copy my password for the logon screen on my client and activate the VNC window. The password will not arrive on the server machine.

To make the synchronisation work, I will have to copy some other text, then activate the VNC window again for it to realize that the clipboard has changed. Now I have to copy my original content again and now it will finally be available on the server session.

This behavior is consistent from Windows 10/11 (client) to Raspberry Pi OS/Ubuntu (server).

I notice a lot more sync issues in general use, where the updated clipboard will not reflect on the VNC server. Workaround is always to copy something else, activate VNC window, copy original content again, activate again. It is somewhat tedious.

Hoping for some improvements. Thanks!

  • Changelog for 7.13 looks promising:

    • FIXED: An issue causing copy/paste (clipboard sharing) in RealVNC Viewer/Server to not work reliably has been resolved.

  • Similar problem on my iPad after a recent update. Clipboard syncs from the server to client but it's not working whatsoever from the client to any of the servers despite allowing clipboard access. Some update has broken this and it needs fixing.

Using VNC Viewer 4.9.3.60403 and iPadOS 18.2.
