Remote Desktop Black Screen with Cross as Cursor

I switched my home server from Windows to Ubuntu and installed RealVNC Server on it.
When I now connect from my Windows PC to my Ubuntu server via RealVNC, I only see a black Screen with a cross as a mouse pointer. Even if I get a connection, it's so slow that I can't do anything.
