Still can't connect to my computer, cloud connection is still down

It hangs on "Contacting RealVNC services..." for minutes on end, after which it throws out a "Hosted Bootstrap error: No more Bootstrap servers." error.

Just checked https://realvnc.statuspage.io/ and here's what it says.

Clearly the issue is not resolved, as I still can't connect to anything.

  • I also saw a message in the morning that everything was fixed, I was glad, but alas, the error "Hosted Bootstrap error: No more Bootstrap servers" persists=(

  • Instead of "Hosted Bootstrap error: No more Bootstrap servers." it's now some non-specific "networking error".

  • And FINALLY I was able to connect to my computer, after almost a whole week of downtime!

I really should look into this whole "ZeroTier + VNC" business, so that I have a fallback in case something like this happens again.

  • Consider using a non-cloud solution as an alternative, which facilitates direct p2p connections (e.g. rdp for windows). It'll require some effort in tuning firewalls/routers (port opening/forwarding) and possibly interacting with your ISP.
