Hosted Bootstrap error: No more Bootstrap servers.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem: "Hosted Bootstrap error: No more Bootstrap servers." I only noticed it yesterday, but it seems to have been going on for days. Does anyone have a solution yet? Thank you very much.

  • Me too.  I tried uninstall and reinstalling the viewer.  No joy.

Doesn't anyone at RealVNC monitor for problems during the weekend?

  • Determined it must be their server.... so i tried accessing my machines in US and Colombia from different servers around the world and they have no fail-over servers anywhere.

Re-registered the VNC Viewer account, and also VNC Server accounts on a few machines themselves....

Reviewed traffic inbound at the firewall.... there is no request at all... which is obvious, there is not server to handle the request.

Got one thing to work.... if you can VPN to the network, and you have the Enterprise version.... you are able to enter the IP of the machine you want to access  in the top search area of the VNC  Viewer... and are able to authenticate to the machine.

That said, I'm a bit surprised that there isn't someone (at least one on call) that is monitoring the servers and platform. And there is no way to contact anyone.....

  • The same here, my business is at stand still. All my device are offline.

And I get no reply from support.

I just migrated to RealVNC two weeks ago. The other provider worked like charm for a couple of years... I really hope this is not the standard level of service at RealVNC.

  • RealVNC is absolutely the fastest solution out there for remotely managing your computers. It's not bloated and is streamlined without breaking the bank.

I feel for you all... as I have been supporting clients since early 2000's ....and I always use a secondary remote solution for times like this....

I hope they will use this as a wakeup call and make some changes especially with having someone that works on the weekends or at best, monitors the community and support queue. Going dark over the weekend is not acceptable.

Again, the people that have enterprise can VPN to their local LAN and use the IP of the machine...This method is actually more efficient and doesn't cause a heavy footprint.

    Good luck all,

  • Let's ask ChatGPT:
The error message you're encountering, "Hosted Bootstrap error: No more Bootstrap servers," seems to be related to VNC (Virtual Network Computing) server software. VNC is a remote desktop sharing protocol that allows you to access and control a computer's desktop environment remotely.

In the context of VNC, "Bootstrap servers" typically refer to servers that help initiate and establish connections between VNC clients (remote machines that want to access a desktop) and VNC servers (machines whose desktops are being shared). Bootstrap servers play a role in the initial setup of a connection, allowing the client to locate and connect to the appropriate VNC server.

The error message you provided, "No more Bootstrap servers," suggests that the VNC server you're trying to connect to is experiencing a problem where it has exhausted its available Bootstrap servers, meaning there might not be any servers left to facilitate new connections. This could be due to various reasons:

    1. **Server Overload**: The VNC server might be overwhelmed by too many incoming connection requests, leading to the exhaustion of available Bootstrap servers.

    2. **Network or Configuration Issues**: There could be network issues or misconfigurations that prevent the VNC server from properly establishing connections with Bootstrap servers.

    3. **Software Bugs**: There might be bugs or glitches in the VNC server software that are causing it to mishandle Bootstrap server resources.

    4. **Resource Limitations**: The server's resources, such as available memory or network bandwidth, could be limiting its ability to handle new Bootstrap server connections.

  • From Colombia all is working once again.  I hope the RealVNC team meet on Monday and devise a plan that will incorporate some kind of support during the weekend.

Communicating with your customers is a key to keeping them.

    Cheers all!

  • Does it work without cloud connection if both devices located in one net? I've used vnc for linux devices - work well. But how to setup w/o internet connection with windows don't know..
