If RealVNC Viewer's password store becomes corrupted, you will find that RealVNC Viewer is not able to save any new passwords or use existing saved passwords. You will need to re-initialise the password store for RealVNC Viewer, using either of the methods below.
Method 1
In RealVNC Viewer > Preferences > Privacy, tick 'Protect VNC Viewer with a master password', set a password and then click Apply, OK.
Next, re-open your Preferences and untick 'Protect VNC Viewer with a master password' and then click Apply, OK.
Try your connection again and check the password is saved.
Method 2
Windows
- Go to
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\RealVNC\vncviewer.d
- Delete or rename the files
passwords.json
andpasswords.encmaster
Mac/Linux
- Go to
~/.vnc/config.d/vncviewer.d
- Delete or rename the files
passwords.json
andpasswords.encmaster
Try your connection again and check the password is saved.
