Changes to our plans and pricing - introducing Concurrent Sessions

Follow

In November 2024, we changed the way our Essentials, Plus, and Premium plans are priced to make them simpler to understand and to offer better value. Rather than paying for the number of devices or users you have, our plans are now based on the number of concurrent sessions you need as a Team.

What’s changing with your plans?

Our Essentials, Plus, and Premium plans now work on per Concurrent Session basis. This means that you pay for the number of remote connections you want to be able to make across your RealVNC Connect Team at any given time. We call this your Concurrent Session Limit and it’s shared between all the Users that you have on your Team.

All our plans now come with a bundle of Managed Devices — these are the remote devices you can license and add to your Team for attended and unattended access by designated Users.

With our Essentials plan, you can have a single user who can only make a single remote session at a time. However, on our Plus or Premium plans, you can add an unlimited number of Users to your Team and choose to purchase a higher Concurrent Session Limit.

Why are you making these changes?

We’ve made these changes to simplify our offering further and offer better value for money. After speaking with customers, we learnt that many would prefer a pricing model that is more aligned to actual use, rather than paying for devices that you need access to, but which you may only be accessing infrequently.

What is a Concurrent Session?

By “concurrent session” we mean the number of connections that can be made to remote devices across your Team at any given time. Each Team has a Concurrent Session Limit, which is shared between every user on the Team.

Please note, you will need RealVNC Viewer version 7.13.0 or later installed to see the number of concurrent sessions in use within the Viewer application.

What are the changes between your previous plans?

Changes to Essentials, Plus and Premium plans

We're changing how pricing works on these plans by introducing per concurrent session subscription pricing. This means that you pay for the number of Concurrent Sessions you can make as a Team. For more detail on what's included within each plan, please refer to our pricing page.

Changes to On-Demand Assist on Plus

Our On-Demand Assist product (formerly known as Instant Support) is no longer available on our Plus plan. It is included in our Premium and Enterprise plans only. Please note that on our Premium plan, On-Demand Assist sessions count towards your overall Concurrent Session Limit (alongside sessions to remote devices).

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell what plan I’m subscribed to?

You can view your subscription details on the Billing page of the RealVNC Connect Portal.

Is a minimum version required?

Yes. You’ll need RealVNC Viewer and Server version 7.13.0 or later. You can update to the latest version by clicking here.

Is there any way we can continue our legacy plans?

Our legacy plans have now been fully retired, so it is not possible to renew on those. You must subscribe to one of our new plans to continue using RealVNC.

I used to be able to connect to several devices at the same time and cannot anymore, why?

Our plans are now priced based on concurrent sessions. This means that there are limits in place as to how many devices you can connect to at once. If you need to access several devices at the same time, you will need to increase your Concurrent Sessions limit on your subscription.

Will I have to license all of my RealVNC Servers again when I switch onto the new plans?

No, you won’t. Licensing will automatically update if you’re using our cloud-joined service to license your RealVNC Servers.

What happens if we have a very large number of devices?

Those with large deployments or those needing a high number of Concurrent Sessions should consider our Enterprise plan. This can be customized to meet your specific needs and offers more flexibility around Concurrent Session Limits. Get in touch here to discuss your requirements.

Who do I contact if I have problems?

If you have any questions about choosing a new plan, you can contact us, using the form here.
